It's Not Even Halloween Yet

Observation for today: Tomorrow is Halloween. But today dozens of retail stores around New York City (like the Pier 1 above) have put up their Christmas decorations already. I'm always happiest during the holiday season, but even I can't stomach too much jingle bells. It's like sun worshipers who live in the land of the midnight sun. Enough is enough. Don't let the spirit of Christmas future (below) get a stranglehold on us consumers. May this extended season of giving and good cheer not lose its specialness, if there is any left. So for now, Merry Hallowistmas and Happy Thanksgivinguka, and to all a good night (and tomorrow night, don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour).

Christmas used to be my favorite holiday until I worked for a company that did, exclusively, shopping mall advertising & promotional materials . . . in July. I'm all for moving it back to Thanksgiving. What happened to Santa coming to town on the heels of the Thanksgiving Day parade? This year, I went to the local grocery 3 days before Halloween to get candy and all the Halloween stuff, including the candy was relegated to a space 4 feet by 4 feet with Christmas stuff everywhere you looked.

I can handle the Hallmark Christmas Ornaments in the summer but that is it. I remember when I was younger and Christmas didn't start until AFTER halloween and about a week before Thanksgiving.
