Work With Us: Intern at Print

by Print staff
Share/Save/Bookmark
Print is seeking highly organized interns to work in its editorial and art departments. These internships offer an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand the day-to-day operations of an international magazine. Candidates for these positions should have a passion for design and journalism.

Print's interns make major contributions to the magazine and website, writing articles, assisting with the design of layouts, and perfecting the way the website looks and functions. Our interns also have a proven track record of success in their careers after Print—many have gone on to work at leading publications, design firms, and agencies.

Please address all questions about Print's internships to this address: careers@fwmedia.com.

Editorial interns

Editorial interns work closely with the staff to produce and generate ideas for the magazine and website. Duties include researching and fact-checking articles; pitching and writing pieces for the magazine and website; supporting the online team in maintaining the website; providing editorial and administrative support during the production process; and contributing ideas for new products.

Art interns

Art interns function as an integral part of the design team, working on most visual aspects of the magazine and website. Responsibilities include assisting with production, which entails color correction, file conversion, and ensuring layouts are fit to print (CMYK images, correct bleeds, updated links), as well as designing page layouts and in-house collateral. Art interns will also be expected secure art for the magazine and web, to archive Print for the web, and to organize the physical archive. Art interns will also be involved in maintaining and creating content for the website.

Web development interns

Web interns are crucial to the further development of Print's web presence. Candidates for this position must have experience implementing and making templates for Wordpress, and must also be completely conversant with CSS and HTML. Familiarity with PHP, Javascript, MySQL, Actionscript, and XML is preferable. Candidates should also have some experience using Photoshop, translating templates into code.

Please note that Print's internships are conducted on a for-credit basis. Any applicant to the program must be able to receive credit for the internship (or must be remunerated by his or her school in another manner already established by that school).
