FEBRUARY: The “Power” Issue
We examine the power of design and the design of power. We look at political design (campaign posters, protest art/graffiti/pamphlets, propaganda, etc.) and profile designer Lisa Strausfeld’s datavisualization project Major League Politics. We also look at “people power”, as well as energy-related design. And we explore the power dynamic of the design-client relationship.

Interactive/digital design is taking the industry by storm. We examine the networks that keep us all connected (or in some cases push us apart). We explore new work models for design firms and ask whether design is losing a sense of place. We also look at the emerging trend of datavisualization/infographic design, and talk to designers living off of the grid.
