Arik Levy at Wright

On Friday, Wright auction house in Chicago will kick off a series of one-person exhibits about contemporary designers, starting with Arik Levy (through May 2). For his first Chicago display, titled “Absent Nature,” the Parisian designer has sent over three of his latest Fractal Cloud ceiling lights—snarls of wiring and fluorescent tubes up to 11 feet wide (prices not yet set)—and is introducing a table/seating line called Log: 14 faceted chunks of stainless steel mesh, polished stainless steel, or blackened wood ($7,000 to $42,000). “He’s custom-designed the Log series for us,” explains Wright press rep Lyz Nagan. “He may make more later, but only as very limited editions.” Wright is also showing three of Levy’s Rock tables, in mirrored steel or wood, plus four bottle-shaped oak carvings from his Skin series (prices not yet set). Later in May, Wright will host a show for Martino Gamper, subject of a profile in I.D.’s upcoming June issue. www.wright20.com
