October 17, 2008. The villa has just been given some serious va-voom. Berlin-based J. Mayer H. Architects recently completed a home near Ludwigsburg, Germany, that updates that dusty Italianate look. The Dupli.Casa’s form is based on the footprint of the house that formerly occupied the site, which was built in 1984 and had suffered many extensions and modifications in intervening years. The cleanly extruded, sternly cantilevered, and elegantly jumbled look of the new residence reflects what the firm calls the ‘family archeology’ that was inherited from the previous structure, but modified through duplication and rotation. jmayerh.de
