Bid on Slumber Party for Two at Guggenheim

Posted inID Mag

November 13, 2008. Tonight’s Guggenheim International Gala, won’t just feature 650 limited-edition art objects by artist Mariko Mori in the gift bags, it will feature an auction of items that should pique the interest of design, even more than art, lovers. Included will be major contemporary art works by Anish Kapoor, Ryan McGinley and Barnaby Furnas, but also up for bid? Three inkjet prints and a chrome-finished, ABS plastic and acrylic model of a guest house titled Guest House SC2 designed by Hani Rashid of Asymptote Architecture – along with the option to commission it. The other covetable lot? That would be number 10: A seriously hospitable New Year’s Eve party at the Gugg “package” for eight people followed by a sleepover for two in Carsten Höller’s Revolving Hotel Room, a fully functional suite perched on slowly pirouetting discs. Bring your Dramamine and let the bidding begin. guggenheim.org/gig08/auction.html
