September 1, 2008. Opening Friday at the Center for Architecture, “New Practices New York” will present the winners of AIANY’s recent emerging architects competition, for which applicants’ studios had to have been founded after 2002 and be located in the five boroughs.
The jurors—including Amale Andraos (Work AC), Jennifer Carpenter (TRUCK), Peter Eisenman (Eisenman Architects), William Menking (The Architect’s Newspaper) and Charles Renfro (Diller Scofidio + Renfro)—chose from 52 portfolios.
Awarded the Highest Honor was Urban A&O (urbanao.com) for the design of the entrance to the Johnson & Johnson Olympic Games Pavilion in Beijing.
