Print is seeking highly organized interns to work in its editorial and art departments. These internships offer an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand the day-to-day operations of an international magazine. Candidates for these positions should have a passion for design and journalism.

Print‘s interns make major contributions to the magazine and website, writing articles, assisting with the design of layouts, and perfecting the way the website looks and functions. Our interns also have a proven track record of success in their careers after Print—many have gone on to work at leading publications, design firms, and agencies.

Editorial interns

The editorial intern works closely with a small staff in creatingthe magazine. Duties include researching and fact-checking articles; generatingideas and writing stories for the magazine and website; and providing editorialand administrative support during the production process. Candidates for theposition should be interested in both design and journalism. Extraconsideration will be given to those with strong writing skills.

Art interns

Art interns function as an integral part of the design team, working on most visual aspects of the magazine and website. Responsibilities include assisting with production, which entails color correction, file conversion, and ensuring layouts are fit to print (CMYK images, correct bleeds, updated links), as well as designing page layouts and in-house collateral.Art interns will also be expected secure art for the magazine and web, to archive Print for the web, and to organize the physical archive. Art interns will also be involved in maintaining and creating content for the website.

Web interns

Web interns work closely with a small staff in runningPrintmag.com and Imprint, the magazine’s blog. Duties include generating ideasand writing stories for Imprint; formatting and posting stories using WordPressand the Printmag.com CMS; promoting stories on Facebook and Twitter; andoptimizing blog posts for search engines.Candidates for theposition should be interested in both design and journalism. Extraconsideration will be given to those with strong writing skills and familiaritywith HTML and blog software.

Please note that Print‘s internships are conducted on a for-credit basis. Any applicant to theprogram must be able to receive credit for the internship (or must beremunerated by his or her school in another manner already establishedby that school).
