Decisions, Decisions

Every year, we assemble a star panel of judges to come to the PRINT offices and select winning entries for Creativity + Commerce. With hundreds of pieces to look at, there are always a lot of tough choices to make—and our 2008 group was up to the task.

We had a dedicated and eclectic team this year: Cooper Union professor, and cofounder of the studio Chopping Block, Mike Essl, (and—it must be mentioned—owner of what may well be the world’s largest collection of Mr. T paraphernalia); Richard Christiansen, founder of Chandelier Creative (check out his amazing office); Christine Mau, associate director of packaging graphics at Kimberly-Clark; and Gail Anderson, a creative director at the design studio and agency SpotCo, and one of the 2008 winners of the AIGA Lifetime Achievement Award. Together, they spent the day exchanging opinions, arguing for theirfavorites, and commenting on design trends.

They also selected our top three winners, and an honorable mention, for 2008.The four pieces they chose are all stunning, and vastly different from one another. We’ll be showcasing those projects here in October. Stay tuned to find out who made the cut—and won the top prize!
