A New Old Design Magazine

Having produced a book (with Jason Godfrey) called 100 Classic Graphic Design Journals (Laurence King), I was pretty certain I knew them all. But when you know it all, its axiomatic that you don’t know everything.

I recently found a Dutch graphic arts / advertising revue called De Ark. It would be easy to mistake this for something else – a children’s picture book, nature magazine or religious tract. But this ark is about “archiving” the arc of design practice in 1911.

It is a thin magazine. And its all Dutch to me. But it’s another piece in the puzzle of graphic design history and its relationship to advertising practice.
