Abstract or Obtuse

This is just an idle musing. Feel free to ignore it. BUT … what I love about graphic design is that anything you put on paper or screen or brick or mortar—letters, shapes, patterns, scratches, shades—is design if you want it to be. And if you make it curious, pleasing or nice enough it will be taken seriously. I also love that things that are done almost by accident can be revived decades later as styles. These postmodern, new wave, neo-abstract forms were from the ’40s—and then in the ’80s they were stylistic, and now they’re high design. I love that. Don’t you?
