Today I am in the Czech Republic city of Pilsen at the Ladislav Sutnar Academy. But before leaving New York I spent time discovering the early attempts at Czech advertising through the national advertising design magazine, Reklama. Printed on newsprint, the journal had the dreary quality we’ve come to expect of Iron Curtain austerity. But it also tries to be vibrant in the face of its postwar fate.
