I wish the world were not so difficult to understand. The tower of babble that is our world is wonderfully diverse yet frustratingly distinct. This is a silly case in point.
I found this illustrated story booklet in a drawer. Actually, my own drawer. I’m not sure how it got there, but it fits my profile of latching onto unusual ephemera. I think it’s Indonesian.
It’s beautiful in its pulp printing and reproduction. The pictures speak a thousand words, but they are intelligible words. So all I can do is savor its rawness and share it with you on this Monday after Christmas.
