Evangelist David Wilkerson, killed in a car crash in 2011, was best known for his faction book, The Cross and the Switchblade and for his addiction recovery ministry, Teen Challenge, at the Times Square Church in New York City. His book was adapted as a comic published by Spire Christian Comics, and while there is a level of religious fervency and hyperbole, in 1972, when it was published the comic was a very effective way of getting a message across.
