Wars are fought as much on paper as in the air, on the sea and in the dirt. During World War II the Germans had a slew of army- and navy-derived periodicals, touting the victories and lamenting some defeats. The Japanese were not reserved about their patriotic publishing. Some of their wartime journals were gorgeous, others just gave the facts (but not necessarily the truth). This unique (horizontal) weekly provided an heroic view of the fighting and the fighters. A fascinating artifact for its current photography, vintage art and fanatical message.
