It is no sigarette—I mean secret—that Europeans, especially Italians, love their cigarettes. The packaging has long had tremendous allure, and the advertising is not just smoke and mirrors. These are bookmarks used to promote the smokes of the 1930s. Mini-posters, they exude a sense of elegance and make the ritual of smoking a graphic design treat. Too bad these designs have doubtless outlived their audience. Such is the price of tobacco intake.
