At this year’s HOW Design Live conference, Pum Lefebure and Jake Lefebure of the Washington, D.C.–based firm Design Army will be offering primers on how to “Be the Best in Your Own Backyard.” The husband-and-wife team will provide well-honed tips on how to do great work for clients big and small—and how to be cunningly strategic in choosing projects. To hear their insider advice, register for the conference here and get a 10 percent discount with the code PRNT12. (Details on that discount at the bottom of this post.)
The Lefebures are ideally suited to offer guidance on creating design projects that soar. Their work has regularly garnered acclaim in Print’s Regional Design Annual over the years, and our pages have featured Design Army’s posters for the Signature Theatre (2011), an annual report for Human Rights Campaign (2010), and an AIGA call for entries (2009)—and that’s to name just a few of numerous others. You’ll find a stunning portfolio in our Imprint feature (some of which we’ve reproduced below). The team consistently creates work that is eye-catching, clever, and lovingly designed to a T, and they can guide you to do the same. Sign up!
In 2010, the studio won the first place in Print’s Creativity + Commerce competition for an identity and collateral materials designed for the DC AdClub’s Addy Awards Ceremony. That project took text-based acronyms, like “OMG,” “WTF,” and “IDK” to create a lively, garishly colored, eminently fun promotion that encompassed poster, invitations, and even stickers.
Attention to detail? RUK? From our Creativity + Commerce award write-up: “The invitations were made from Coronado stipple paper, which has a ‘plastic-y’ feel that achieved the tactile effect the designers were after, while the font is Helvetica Round, a quirky, bubbly text that also lends to the overall [teenager-homaged] theme.”
With a focus on approaches that make the client (not to mention the audience, the general public, and the design firm itself) happy, Pum and Jake’s talk will feature oodles of great pointers. Don’t miss out.
The discount code PRNT12 is good for 10 percent off the regular individual full conference rates for the HOW Design Conference, InHOWse Managers Conference, The Dieline Package Design Conference, or Creative Freelancer Conference. It cannot be combined with other discount offers.
