Designer of the Week Yehuda Devir spends his time illustrating posters, comics, books and the like, and when he’s not doing that, he’s illustrating his life adventures with his wife, Maya Zeltzer, who’s also an illustrator and graphic designer. Where do you find inspiration?
In everyday life, my wife, things I like, artists I like …
Who are some of your favorite designers or artists?
Jim Lee, Tomer & Asaf Hanuka, Skottie Young, Frank Miller, Frank Cho, Joe Kubert, Stuart Immonen, Kim Jung Gi.
Do you have a favorite among all the projects you’ve worked on?
It’s hard for me to decide, but two significant projects I have done/am still doing are my graduation project (Cinephile) and my and my wife’s blog.
Is there a project that stands out to you as having been the biggest challenge of your career so far?
My graduation project was Cinephile—a mural, 11 meters long and 2 meters high, giant scene of 300 most iconic moments and characters from the film industry (1920–2016).
What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
The sky is the limit … books, TV show, continue with my and my wife’s blog … and so on … I am open to any suggestions.
What’s your best advice for designers today?
Do not stop practicing. There is no limit to your ability. Everything is possible if you want and work hard enough.
