Now the museum is taking some heat over a newly unveiled logo referred to as “the responsive W,” design by Dutch graphics studio Experimental Jetset. Sure a logo can be responsive, but what does that do to its branding?
Kenneth Goldsmith has encouraged many writers, poets and artists as founder of UbuWeb and the first-ever Poet Laureate for the Museum of Modern Art. That kind of moniker requires a substantial art exhibit and Goldsmith just may have done it, albeit angering the environmental movement in the meantime.
Memorial Day can find it roots in the aftermath of the American Civil War. Families honored their loved ones who had served and died by decorating their graves in late May, early June. Harper’s Weekly, covered the Civil War extensively and continued to focus on politics after the war. Each year, they would print an illustration to honor Decoration Day as it was first called.
