If you’re an iPad user who likes comics and mixing things there are great new features are now available for COMIXER–THE COMICS MIXER, a comics-making iPad app for 7- to 13-year-olds (and everybody else!). To celebrate the new release, the app is on sale for $0.99 until November 1 in the iPad App Store.
Created by three former editors of Nickelodeon Magazine, Comixer is a game, a puzzle, and a creative tool all in one. The new update, v1.3, makes it a great reading experience, too.
With Comixer, players “mix” cartoon panels to create their own stories, the way a deejay mixes tracks to make a new song. The dozens of panels are designed to work together in endless combinations. The stories can be funny, action-packed, suspenseful, or totally wacky.
Indie comics legend Johnny Ryan drew the panels, but how the story unfolds is completely up to the user—there are no right or wrong answers. For kids, Comixer encourages creativity and reinforces literacy skills.
Players build a library of their masterpieces, and with version 1.3, they can now read their comics in a digital comic book, too. They can also email their favorite stories or share them on Facebook.
