The Lucian Bernhard typeface design I most admire is Extra Fat Bernhard Antiqua, a nervously drawn face that works well in all caps and upper and lower case on posters and editorial pages.
It was designed in 1924 and distributed by Bauer Foundry, just nine years before Bernhard was branded a Jewish designer and his typefaces were banned for the most part. He was not, however, Jewish. He designed over 30 typefaces in Germany and the United States, but this is his most engaging novelty.
