Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me (Yet)

Thursday (at least this Thursday) is puzzle day at The Daily Heller. Today’s not-so-easy collection comes from Everything’s A Puzzle (1953, Unicorn Books). The book, filled with delightfully challenging rebuses, was a souvenir for contestants of the American Puzzle Contest that, well, pooped out before the end. “Even though you didn’t complete the contest, please be assured we were happy to have you as an entrant . . .,” write the editors.

The book is like having Puzzle Master Will Shortz in your pocket.  (Warning: Don’t feel like an idiot. These are difficult even for the folks at Print.) Please share your answers in the comment field below.

I haven’t had time to do them all yet, and I can’t figure out #1, but I do know…

Thanks for posting. I love these! I’ll come back for more. Deadlines, you know.
