Today's Obsession: FontLab Errors

Are you one of the many typographers frustrated by the lack of adequately performing tools? Yeah? Someone’s finally grousing about it in public.

For years FontLab looked to be the ascendant tool for creating typefaces—it has great support for OpenType scripting and multiple (and non-Latin) languages, and is highly extensible using Python. Unfortunately, its interface design and support from the parent company (it still hasn’t been ported to code for Intel Macs, if that tells you anything) have become an in-joke to typographers around the world.

Here’s collected errors from FontLab users around the world, in the form of screen grabs of errors (there are some doozies) and a rather shrill Twitter feed of FontLab jeering as it crashes once again.
