DESIGN IN 5, Architectural League of New York
SKETCH120
One design charrette, two hours, four jurors, one great conversation!
Date:
Saturday, July 28th
Location:
American
Can Factory in Gowanus, Brooklyn at 232 Third Street
and Third Avenue
Time:
3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Jury:
James Biber, FAIA, Partner at Pentagram
Architects Andrew
Blum, Contributing Editor, Metropolis
& Wired magazines
Lauren Crahan,
Partner at Freecell
Alex Washburn,
Director of Urban Design, Department of City Planning
A design problem
related to New York’s construction boom will be given to participants promptly
at 3:00 pm to solve in two hours. All
work will then be pinned up and the invited jury will hold an open discussion
and critique with participants. A
critical conversation will emerge from the work generated and the questions
posed by the original brief. Cheer on
your friends or come participate to hear your work discussed!
The charrette is open
to all young designers five years or less out of school; whether you are a
graphic, industrial, or fashion designer, an artist or architect, Design in 5
invites you to attend. Refreshments will
be available. You may participate as an
individual or as a team of up to three people.
Reservations are not required, but appreciated to help gauge attendance:
email anderson@archleague.org or
call 212.980.3767. Admission is $5 at
the door; Architectural League members receive free admittance. Design in 5 and the Architectural League
thanks XO Projects Inc. for hosting this event.
