I try not to toot the horns of my MFA Designer as Author students before their products are tested and brought to market, but I'm going to make an exception in this case. A new website, StopAndStartOver, conceived and designed by Lara McCormick as her thesis, intends to help recovering addicts by affording them a positive online environment to "blog, listen, watch, learn, and share." The site is fully operational and poised to be a unique social networking experience for those in need.

Thanks for the post Steve! So far, the recovery community has responded very well to my site. Up to this point, no one has represented recovery (online or in print) with a fresh, thoughtful design approach. Being a designer in recovery has enabled me to complete this project. It looks so different from anything else in that landscape. My hope is that organizations in the industry will be inspired to re-think their design strategy in the future. One can only hope!
