As I head off for Berlin's Typo conference, the one thing on my mind is
the incredible opening at School of Visual Arts last night for the MFA Designer as Author first year exhibition: Seriouis Fun.
The fun house filled with socially relevant and politically acute toys
representing such personal issues as "Loneliness" to such global ones
as "Genetically Manufactured Farm Animals" is curator Kevin
O'Callaghan's tour de force of the year. All the mini-store
environments and products were produced by MFA students, and the
results are nothing less than spectacular. If you're in New York, check
it out at 209 East 23rd St (up for only a week).
