Just when you thought it was safe to use an eagle in or as your logo, Barclays, the big British bank set to merge with the Duch ABN  bank, has decided to dump its brand:

"Citing unidentified sources close to Barclays, the paper [the Times]  said that the British bank had come under pressure to drop its logo because of concerns the design has Nazi connotations." - Yahoo News

Ah yes, those pesky Nazi connotations that pervade so much of today's branding - directly and indirectly. Just goes to show that the Nazis monopolized (doubtless by design) the symbols lexicon.

Frankly, and I'm more sensitive that most to the ignorant misuse of Nazi-era iconography, this jelly-like eagle-lozenge doesn't seem any more Nazi-related (see examples below) than any of these more benign eagle logos (see more examples below).
