A loveable jerk.
I went to a special private screening of the long awaited Simpsons
movie. As Homer says, "why would anyone come to something we give away
free on TV?"
The answer is, its fun. Its also great to see all those wonderful
camera pespectives that you can only see on the silver screen.
The entire nation of South Korea (and maybe the North too) had input
into the animation, which was superb - it was Simpsons, but better.
The party afterward was nice - not too crowded, lovely food, and I got
meet my other hero (other than Homer) from my youth, Dick Cavett, who I told (in
truth) that I rented all his movie star interview DVDs sets and watched them all in five days. I also
apologized for not buying them. After about a 1/2 hour of recalling
those halcyon days, he said "You know the DVDs are cheap." Still has
the subtle comic touch.
But back to Simpsons, I wondered how Matt G would differentiate the movie from
the TV show - he did and he didn't. But one thing is certain after all
these many seasons, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie have not lost
any of their wonderful bite. And that's a triumph.
