New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is only one in a pantheon of public officials forced to apologize for their lack of, well, restraint in matters of the heart (and other organs). But out of this embarrasment emerges a pictorial genre in which the dutiful wife stands stoically by her man. Perhaps there's a book to be made of these and other examples. . .
