| Last thursday the comics and cartoon world lost one of its most fervent champions, Jay Kennedy. As editor and chief of King Features Syndicate he shepherded such strips as "Mutts," "Curtis," and "Zits," developed new artists, and was particularly active in bringing women cartoonists and comics to the fore. I knew Jay - he spoke at many of my classes - and I will personally miss the infectuous excitment he brought to the table when talking about comics, old and new. |
