Macro-Micro installation by Belle & Wissell, Co. (Seattle): Gabe Kean (design director); Thomas Ryun (art director); Edrea Lita (designer); McNae Metals (fabricator); Vulcan Real Estate (client); bwco.info

“Macro-Micro is an environmental sculpture located in the South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle, which is now home to a handful of biotech companies and the Amazon headquarters. Innovation has always played a large role in shaping the area, and Mark Twain, Marie Curie, and Nikola Tesla serve as icons of innovation. The installation is composed of 8,640 custom-fabricated aluminum discs in six colors. The discs slide into an aluminum grid and are secured by safety screws. One of the advantages of this modular approach is that it allows the flexibility to change the imagery in the sculpture over time by rearranging and reusing the existing parts, making for a sustainable canvas that can evolve with the neighborhood.” —Gabe Kean
