“We asked ourselves what would be a simple but innovative solution to spark conversation and get attention for the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence. We needed an idea that was inexpensive and could be executed by volunteers in the streets. We used static-cling decals that were very easy and quick to apply yet also could be removed without any damage. We wanted to get people’s attention, but we also wanted to do so with respect for public property. Once we designed and printed the decals, we distributed them to friends, family, anyone who volunteered their efforts, and went throughout Chicago communities applying them to existing street signs.” —Matt Witt, Y&R Midwest’s VP/director of creative innovation
