Ever since the traveling came to an abrupt halt, I've had an extreme case of wanderlust. It's like when someone tells you not to push the big red button, all you want to do is press it with all your might.

While a trip to Spain is nowhere in my future, I've realized that, sometimes, a little white lie never hurts anyone. Instead of going to Spain, I can just pretend to go with the help of El Bandarra Aperitif's, "Pretend you went to Barcelona Starter Pack." The kit includes:

  • A tanning solution.

  • Sand.

  • A fake receipt for paella.

  • Anything else that you could dream of when thinking about a vacation to Spain.

The simple design pairs well with a kit with it all, and I appreciate the witty copy and condensed art direction. El Bandarra Aperitif's creative thinking is out of this world.

El Bandarra Aperitif presents a kit to fake your holidays in Barcelona. It contains beach sand to spread in your shoes, an ugly souvenir for your friends, a receipt for an overpriced paella and many other crazy features.

Every year, the arrival of good weather is the starting gun for Brits to go and seek sun, parties and beaches in one of our favourite European destinations: Barcelona. This year that quick trip isn’t quite possible yet and for this reason the aperitif brand from Barcelona, El Bandarra, has launched a limited-edition “Pretend you went to Barcelona Starter Pack”, which includes all you need to pretend you’ve been to one of the sunniest cities in Spain. Barcelona Starter Pack can be enjoyed with friends and family in back gardens, and will ensure they get the full Spanish experience.

The limited edition box includes a fake tan to give you a touch of Spanish sun, a handful of beach sand to sprinkle on your bags and shoes, a fake police report for your ‘stolen wallet’, a receipt for an overpriced paella, Barcelona’s tackiest fridge magnet from Sagrada Familia, a pair of earrings and a hand fan that supposedly belong to a flamenco dancer, and the jewel in the crown, a 1L bottle of El Bandarra Al Fresco along with two cans of Fever-Tree tonic and a tall glass to make your own El Bandarra Al Fresco aperitif. A drink so good, you’ll be near fluent in Spanish.

Some extra exclusive features can be downloaded from starterpack.elbandarra.com and you can watch a funny video explaining the limited-edition “Barcelona starter pack” here.

El Bandarra Al Fresco is a natural and refreshing aperitif made from rosé Grenache wine and Mediterranean botanicals such as orange, cherry blossom and grapefruit to create a soft, bittersweet aperitif. The perfect serve is one part El Bandarra Al Fresco and two parts tonic, garnished with an orange wedge. At 14.5%, El Bandarra Al Fresco results in a lower alcoholic drink when topped up with tonic for that aperitif moment or “Al Fresco hour” that will transport you to Barcelona in just one sip. If you can’t get your hands on one of the holiday in a box kits, you can still transport yourself to Barcelona as El Bandarra Al Fresco has just launched in UK Waitrose stores nationwide and online.

The El Bandarra bottles are a homage to the nostalgic golden age of aperitifs, a time when the bars of Barcelona hand painted tapas on the menu on their windows with colourful lettering to attract passers-by.This is replicated on the El Bandarra glass bottles, which are adorned with tapas that pair perfectly with the El Bandarra range. Complete with a flip-top stopper, the El Bandarra Al Fresco bottle is re-usable and portable for picnics in the park or beach trips with friends and family.
