Magazine Cover Design in the Age of Trump
[Call For Entries: HOW International Design Awards] The Effects of Magazine Covers I grew up in Northern Kentucky. It was and still is a predominantly white, middle-class, metropolitan area. The schools are nice, but not the best in the country. People spend their evenings eating out at Applebee’s or watching America’s Got Talent with their families, and kids are promptly in bed when the credits roll. Growing up in a community like that, I wasn’t exposed to much controversy.

As is typical, the design team at Bloomberg Businessweek takes risks that pay off in their magazine cover designs. In covering the minimum wage, they asked their subjects a few questions and, in the style of Gillian Wearing’s work, they wrote down answers and presented them to the camera. Ravinia Festival entrance Highland Park, Illinois. The Ravinia Festival is the oldest outdoor music festival organization in the United States. It’s located in Highland Park, Illinois about 25 miles north of Chicago on the shores of Lake Michigan. The park was created in 1904 by A.C.
