Phaidon Press has announced its latest coffee table must-have, Woman Made, by Jane Hall, which busts the myth that design is a man’s world. From author Jane Hall, Woman Made provides a comprehensive illustrated collection of over 200 women designers from more than 50 countries that left an indelible mark on the world of design.
The book serves as a much-deserved celebration of the impact female designers have made throughout history that has long been widely underappreciated. Spotlighting the likes of Ray Eames, Eileen Gray, Florence Knoll, Ilse Crawford, Faye Toogood, and Nathalie du Pasquier, each featured designer gets accompanied by one of their most heralded works with a brief write-up.
Hall’s book gets broken down into four design categories as well—furniture, textiles, lighting, and product design, with an emphasis on the things we use every day, whether it’s in the home or our workspaces (which, for some of us, is still home). Ariane Spanier handled cover duties with a mint leatherette binding and type-heavy design in the shape of a chair.
