As the world becomes more and more centered around technology, anything not digital makes quite the impact.

Eiko Ojala is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Estonia, and he recently worked with design practice SomeOne to create a papercraft landscape for the Coventry Building Society (CBS), one of the UK’s largest building societies and a reliable spot for savers and borrowers.

CBS (not the broadcasting network) is a 137-year-old company, and has been working with SomeOne to update their branding system. Working with Eiko not only infuses the brand with a sense of modernity, but the paper landscapes add a touch of the analog that we all crave to see in our Instagram feed.

While the paper landscapes ultimately get utilized across a digital format, they still create an undeniably friendly and elegant hand-crafted aesthetic. There’s a nostalgic feeling emanating from these landscapes through the vibrant colors, light textures, and gorgeous layers that create an image of a world we’d all feel comfortable living inside of.

So while yes, technology is great for countless reasons, sometimes we need to escape into the refreshing world of the handmade.
