This season’s gaggle of Design Entrepreneurs will make their premiere pitches at the SVA MFA Designer / Designer as Author + Entrepreneur Thesis Forum 2012, called “Designer as
”. The event showcases the numerous roles designers play today, especially self-motivated entrepreneurial creation.
On April 18, 2012 the SVA Theatre stage is set for their pitches and proposals, revealing ideas and future plans. The stars of the show are 18 MFA Design students have worked for over a year to develop viable products and media innovations based on personal narratives. Each is ready for commercial and non-profit marketplaces. .
These unique projects range from a new mobile app for teaching idiomatic English to a children’s book and film on the virtues of “groovy” and healthy foods; from a documentary on women surfers in Rockaway Beach to a new Polish food emporium in Brooklyn; from a social media site for struggling comedians to a safe haven for young girls in Lebanon. Every one of them different, personal and viable.

An iPad Thesis App Magazine will be released on May 2, to coincide with the “Designer As______” Thesis Launch (the second of the MFA Design events) at the Visual Arts Gallery, 601 West 26th Street.
