Cassandre’s Tables

Acier is steel. It is also a venerable metal office and school furniture company, a.k.a. OTUA Office technique pour l’utilisation de l’acier. And it is also the name A.M. Cassandre gave to a 1930 and 1935 typeface. It was a quirky sans serif display font that was published by Deberny and Peignot.

The cover of this 1937 catalog / revue of OTUA’s products was designed by Cassandre, although the Acier title is not done in the Acier typeface. Go figure.
