Mishka NYC, known for its cool street wear, gave Thai Truong (a student at SVA’s MFA Designer as Author + Entrepreneur program) a chance to create a Dunny for Kid Robot’s Apocalypse Series to commemorate “the end,” which seems closer everyday. Mishka’s Dunny is done, just in time for the holidays.
Troung explains: “With the direction of my art director, Mishka’s Dunny is a simple, fun one: modeling an alien-like being in a dark, bitter homage to the cult leader Marshall Applewhite of Heaven’s Gate. It features Applewhite’s pastor clothes, his quick-strike sneakers, a glow-in-the-dark head, and a mini purple blanket that was laid upon him after the cult’s awful mass suicide in 1997.”
