To celebrate the induction last Friday night of Kevin O’Callaghan, SVA’s chair of 3D Illustration, into the Art Directors Hall of Fame, Michael J. Walsh, the director of the SVA’s Visual Arts Press, conceived, edited, researched, and designed “10 Best,” a guide to the greatest (“in our opinion”) mustaches of all time. O’Callaghan, in addition to creating some of the most monumental public art pieces of all time, maintains a 19th-century carnival barker’s handlebar mustache (or in his case moustache), waxed to perfection, so sharp at the ends it could poke your eye out. Here, for you upper-lip enthusiasts, is a portion of Walsh’s survey.
