On Labor Day, like clockwork, leaves begin to fall off trees. Colors slowly begin to change. Crunchy sounds start to be heard as feet crush the leaves into mulch. Summer falls away.
Labor Day is a melancholy time for anyone who finds transition difficult. It is the beginning of that march towards Fall. Nature has made it palatable through colorful pyrotechnics. But soothing as the foliage extravaganza may be (if lucky enough to see it), Labor Day is that line between Summer suspension and Fall reinstatement of reality.
Happy Labor Day.
