One is about type and typefaces, the other is about design and its role in life. Both are about visual culture as it impacts designers and the world they inhabit. TipoItalia is published by the dedicated curators and scholars at Tipoteca Italiana, the workshop, museum and print shop dedicated to the living history of typographic arts. TipoItalia 3 (Winter 2015) is currently available and is a valuable repository of Italian type lore and research. The Quarterly, published by Design Observer, is a smartly edited thematic publication that looks at subjects, like the current issue on “Tagging,” through the design lens. It is beautifully designed and rich in content.
