Barbara DeWilde, graphic designer, art director and SVA MFA Interaction Design candidate, has designed a “What The Book” exhibition with an online (here) interaction design component for the upcoming AIGA 50/50 show (December 8 – February 23, 2012). It is a questionnaire with queries I’ve always wanted to answer. So, see for yourself what others are thinking about the states of the book.
What the Book asks users to “shelve their opinions” in response to the evolution of the book. Responses will contribute to an ongoing conversation about the evolution of the book. The site was produced in conjunction with the AIGA “50 Books/50 Covers” annual design exhibition which showcases excellence in book design.
At the exhibition, each day, for the duration of the exhibition, a new definition of the book will be written on the gallery wall at the AIGA National Design Center in New York. When users create a new definition on the website, their definition may be chosen to be displayed in the gallery. People may also “shelve” their opinions by choosing red or black books in response to questions in the gallery.
