What’ll ya have, honey? Adam and Eve on a raft? And what to drink? A cup ‘o joe? Whatever happened to the great diner waitresses of yore, who always called you “honey” and spoke a special lingo unique to their kind? Here are some terms and their definitions: Adam & Eve on a raft & wreck them: two scrambled eggs on toast; A blonde with sand: coffee with cream and sugar; Bucket of cold mud: a bowl of chocolate ice cream; Eve with a moldy lid: apple pie with a slice of cheese; Love Apples: tomatoes; Put out the lights and cry: an order of liver and onions; Two cows, make them cry: Two hamburgers with onions; Whiskey down: rye toast.
