Everytime I hear the words “design contest” I reach for my revolver. But here’s a new twist from the folks at The Rooster Design Group in NYC. If you can still think of food after yesterday that is. Its called “The Next Big Small Brand Contest for Culinary Genius.” Its a contest that invites small new culinary brands (i.e. start-up clients) to submit their products for judging by designers, consultants, and editors. The winner will get the free branding services of Rooster, which brands food companies, so no matter how you cut it, that’s good value for the dollar.

Principal Fernando Music notes: “On January 12, 2010, a panel of esteemed judges – including the deputy editor of a national food magazine, the culinary mastermind of the Brooklyn Flea, the proprietor of a successful local food start-up, a national food consultant, and a PR guro (See here for names) – will select one lucky winner to help launch the champ into food superstardom.” He hopes. Details for entering are here (deadline Nov. 30). With this smart idea, Rooster has something to to cock-a-doodle-doo about.
