The Legend of Bagger Sustainability

Posted inThe Daily Heller

I want to save the planet as much as the next person, but it’s awfully hard work. For example, it’s much easier to use a paper or plastic shopping bag that’s given out at the supermarket than to bring a reusable bag from home. Who thinks of such things, especially on impulse buying trips? Well, I’m slowly coming around to the realization that my small contribution to sustainability is to use reusable shopper bags. This holiday, I received a set of three Willobags from The Willoughby Design Group, and my wasteful life is over. Just pop the handy pouch (above and immediately below) in your pocket and you’ll never have to say “paper” or “plastic” again.

But, if you’re looking for something a little more stylish and design-y, there are wealth of “shoppers” made from environmentally recycled woven polyproylene (made from used plastic water bottles), like the ones from Blue Q at bottom (alphabet and label bags designed by Louise Fili). Use them (or others) and I guarantee you’ll feel a twinge of virtue. It may not be the only thing you can do, but it’s a start.

So, what do you do to be a model citizen?
