. . . Norman Rockwell. And if you’re in Stockbridge, Mass., tomorrow at 2:30 at the Norman Rockwell Museum you can meet one his real life models.

Claire Williams met Norman Rockwell during a sketch class taught by fellow Stockbridge neighbor Peggy Best in the late 1950s. Ms. Williams was a model for the class, and Rockwell attended several sessions to “loosen up” his own drawing skills.Rockwell later approached Williams to do some modeling for his own illustrations. She appeared in several Mass Mutual advertising illustrations over the years, and her husband also served as a Rockwell model. Williams continues to have a connection to the great illustrator, working as a long-time docent and educator at Norman Rockwell Museum.

On the first Friday of every month Rockwell’s models share their personal experiences — free with Museum admission.
