Tomorrow night, the Art Directors Club in New York City will host an event that should be of major import and lasting significance to the city’s graphic design community. That’s right, it’s the ninth-annual
World Graphic Design Foosball Championship. The storied tournament dates back to 2004, when Karlssonwilker hosted 23 teams at its office foosball table; since then, it has steadily grown in size and prestige. This year’s confirmed participants include Hoefler & Frere-Jones, IDEO, Pentagram, Frog Design, Type@Cooper, Penguin Books, Fortune magazine, and the 2011 defending champions from Random House. New teams can still register for $35, and spectators can gain admittance for $10 ($5 for ADC members). Those prices include free beer for the full event, which lasts from 6 to 11 p.m. Get the complete details here.
As the WGDFC’s official media partner, Print will be on hand to observe the contest—keep an eye on our Twitter feed (@printmag) for the evening’s highlights.
