It's with great excitement that we announce that the Type Directors Club, the world's leading typography organization and a part of The One Club for Creativity, has released winners from the two premier global awards programs: TDC67 Communication Design and 24TDC Typeface Design competitions.
Established in 1946, TDC67 focuses on the use of letterforms and celebrates the culture and power of typography. It's the 67th year of recognizing typographic excellence and innovation and the art and craft of typography and design and the first year of the competition since the announcement of TDC's merger with The One Club for Creativity. 24TDC, in its 24th year, focuses on how letterforms are drawn. Both competitions have professional and student categories and receive hundreds of entries.
COLLINS, Pentagram, and The New York Times Magazine are top Type Directors Club Award winners. COLLINS won eight TDC67 Certificates including their piece for the San Fransisco Symphony Brand Identity, Pentagram won eight TDC67 certificates including their world for the New York Times titled “My 2020 In Data (So Far)”, and the New York Times Magazine won seven TDC67 certificates including their piece “The All-Seeing Eye.”
"Opening the competitions following several months of hardship, unemployment, and lost clients created a lot of uncertainty," said Elizabeth Carey Smith, TDC past president and chair of its Advisory Board. "But as we found out, people channeled that uncertainty in incredibly creative, expressive ways, and we're so proud of all the work submitted. As an organization that strives to recognize typography all over the world, we're also delighted this year to have winners from nearly 40 countries."
The winning pieces are featured in the TDC Annual, The World's Best Typography, and showcased in traveling exhibits featured in museums, design organizations, and schools worldwide. The special showcase of all winners can be viewed here.
