Tasked with designing a stationery set for an event in Sophia, client inkpression gave Max Pirsky creative freedom to explore typography as a theme.
Nods to typographic symbols such as the "@" and the pilcrow tie back to printing, Bulgaria, and Emil Ruder's Typographie adds technical and historic flair to the project.
This letterpress stationery set was designed for an event about paper and printing techniques in Sofia. inkpression gave me a carte blanche for the designs so I decided to explore typography as the core theme. The card features a quote from the book Typographie by Emil Ruder, while the bookmarks are an exploration of typographic symbols. The “@” symbol apparently first appeared on a Bulgarian document dating all the way back to 1345. The pilcrow (paragraph symbol) uses a blind letterpress impression, which is a nod to the fact that this symbol is everywhere in the books we read, while at the same time we never actually see it.
